It all started on the 6th of September 1964 in the maternity ward at Tampa General Hospital, Florida. At the time my family was living in Lakeland not far from Tampa and my exhausted mother gave birth to her 9th and final child. Her baby boy she named Thomas Allen Cummins after her father and her brother. The new arrival quickly assumed his position at the top of the Cummins family totem pole and beamed the benevolence of a fat and happy monarch. The “Baby” had become the center of the known universe despite the fact that there were eight other planets in the Cummins solar system vying for the attentions of their shared parental sun.

Though I had been born in the 60's, I had not garnered a clear appreciation of those times. A toddler's mind is notoriously undisciplined and generally unable to fathom the complex sociological and political machinations that swirl around his world. Therefore, my first coherent memories begin around 1969 or thereabouts. I actually remember watching the first Lunar Landing. The nebulous image of Walter Cronkite's spherical face filling the family black and white television is forever emblazoned upon the fragile textures of my infirm gray matter.

When I was still quite young my parents ended a marriage that had become a visibly tumultuous endeavor. The suffering that they had begun to inflict upon each other was evident to the array of frightened children that lined the hallway of our home. Though fault and responsibility might be assigned, it is not within my limited powers to examine the true heart of either of my parents during that period in our lives. As I have grown to adulthood I myself have been challenged in a similar way and can find no blame for either of them in the deepest recesses of my soul. Of course there is a small six-year-old boy hiding in the back of my thoughts, wishing that the opposing poles of fate had not torn my family apart. It is the primary aspect of a mature mind that finds acceptance in the unyielding bedrock of reality.

When I was in my early teens, I had developed a passing interest in the music that filled my home. But when I met a friend in my sophomore year in high school that aspired to start a band of his own, I was quickly ensnared and began to explore my musical talents. I found that I deeply enjoyed crafting melodies. After years of trial and error with several styles and band mates, I finally find myself in a comfortable groove that gives me a creative joy I could not have imagined when I began. Some years ago, after a life trial that had tested the limits of my emotional endurance, I found Jesus Christ and accepted him as my personal savior. Soon thereafter I met my wonderful wife and we were quickly blessed with a daughter that is a joy to behold. I consider myself a blessed man indeed.

I love music, I love this band, I love my family and most of all I love my personal savior Jesus Christ.

God bless you all.
